Phil - I have just been quoted 700 for coilovers which are over my budget right now, so i am thinking either wait until i have the money or just get a kit and do it for 175....i think i may wait and do it properly.
Have also sorted the bumpers...a valeter at work gave me some..??not entirely sure what....but it has brought them up a treat...thanks for the advice anyway.

My advice would be to get a nice sensible drop (35mm) with some Eibach springs, and then get a set of something like BBS RX's in 17"'s. It will give it a modified look, that won't be over the top which will look classy and only cost you about a grand.

Jon's wheels are Azev A's, which look very cool but IMO feel horrible on a Mk3 due to the low offset and width (8") on them. :)

Depends how you drive it i suppose, but you can certainly feel the difference under acceleration - pulls a bit from side to side. Thinking of putting std rims back on for the winter, so will be able to feel the difference.

IMO, i think the Azev A look best in 17", but next time will go for a slightly narrower wheel in 16".

mmmm, sounds like a good excuse to look at new wheels

Oh yeah, i like it  .

They look really smart on a silver car. Did you get rid of them purely for handling reasons ??

    Three reasons mainly!

    1) I couldn't get it low enough without doing serious mods to my arches.

    2) It never felt as nimble as it could have been.

    3) They nearly caused me a serious accident at 100mph due to a blowout with the slight -ve camber I had on them.

Always loved the wheels though, and they do look well on black cars. :)

Mine are 17" x 8" ET30 with 205/40/17 tyres. As Phil said, if you want to go lower than 35-40mm, they would rub like hell unless you did some serious arch mods.

Mine is only lowered around 40mm and i don't have much trouble.
