    reason i ask ,
    thought id fit a stock 6speed 4motion gearbox ,
im unsure if its a 4motion 6speed, audi tt gearbox or r32 6speed , as the outercase was damaged ,
i dont know the code ,
    now the problem[:^(]
fitted the gearbox to a 2.8 vr6 turbo engine and the ratios are so short its unreal
im in 6th gear at 45mph 3000rpm , sure this isnt right , really quick short shifts,
im woundering as if its from a r32 has the have a slightly differnert crank ratio ,
which maybe makeing the ratios really short,[:$]
off a o3 as i found a stamp on the caseing , theres a few other numbers underneath but unsure if they may help [:$]

if these ratios for each box are correct there should be not that much difference in top gear.

by my calculations you shouldnt be doing much of a lower speed vs rpm, the vr6 box only gaining about 1mph for each 1krpm rise, meaning youd be doing 45mph at 2krpm
would the crank ratio make odds to the gearbox? as 1 revolution is still 1 revolution

    VR6
    1st - 3.62:1
    2nd - 2.07:1
    3rd - 1.47:1
    4th - 1.04:1
    5th - 0.84:1
    Final - 3.39:1

    R32
    1st - 3.36:1
    2nd - 2.09:1
    3rd - 1.47:1
    4th - 1.1:1
    5th - 0.86:1
    6th - 0.72:1
    Final - 4.24:1

nice one for finding the info and help , it just seem like the engines reving high(sounds high too ) im now woundering if these vr6 instrument cluster are from another car (not vr6), idiol looks right be rpm looks high,
its defo... reading 45mph at 3000rpm in 6th , im runing 17inch rims , 215 40 17, grrr ill get another set of clocks see if rpm lowers [:s]
unsure regards crank ratios to these gearboxs, as ive a gut feeling this may have been a r32 which is fitted on a mk3 vr6 t

with that size rim you should do 46mph at 2krpm with the "r32" box and with a standard box would do 49mph, for reference

lukey may have a bit off gearbox ratio confusion i meant ive a mk3 vr6 fitted with a mk4 2.8 6speed o2m ,which had a noise so ive fitted these other o2m which the ratios are really short so i assumed maybe its off a r32 crank/ratio maybe differnert from a 2.8/3.2 causeing really short changes threw the gearbox ,,if your with me ,
    ie 4motion 2.8 gearbox drp
    ie r32 gearbox /currantly fitted to my mk3 vr6t engine ,

yea i get what you mean, but in my head, tell me if im wrong, no matter what ratio the crank is, the crank going round once turns the flywheel once, and the gearbox ratios determine road/engine speeds?

Or would it I also have a vr turbo withe a 02m box out of a vr6 4motion and the ratios are also so short it's unreal it's such a pain changing gear every 2 seconds. The only thing I can think to do is fit a 02m diesel final drive.
