As title says im looking at buying a T reg Passat 1.8 20 valve, does anybody know good point / bad points to look for on this type of car, or any recalls that VW issued. Its done 75 thou and has full VW service history, have chassis no. too if that helps ! Cheers everyone !
there was a recall for the lower front wishbones. they are prone to failing. just call vw uk and they will tell you if it has been done already. I have owned my 99 20v T sport for 3 years now and it has been a brilliant car. mine has clocked up 120,000 miles and has only really needed consumables and a bit of exhaust pipe. other than that check the alarm works ok. they can suffer from a dodgy switch in the door handle which triggers the alarm. also look here: http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/Cat/0 scroll to passat section. this will give you a good idea on the things that fail the most.
