Has anyone taking the restrictive looking intake off the front of their airbox?

did it make any difference at all?

    cheers, Dan.

well. it's done now, intake is now fist-sized, rather than 2 coin sized.

should vastly increase airflow, will take about 30secs to put on if effects are detrimental...

if you can live with the slight noise increase, its almost a no brainer. I have done it to most of my cars.

it is quite abit louder on acceleration!
But it deffinately seems abit quicker and better throttle response.

    Induction kit mate.

    Best of both worlds.

Get rid of the airbox totally. [:D]

    Dont get an induction kit[:s]

Get a K&N panel filter and drill your airbox down the wing side to let cold air in.

The paper filters are supposed to flow better as a guy tested them for his e30 bmw but if u want to uprate yours get a K&N panel for about 30 and drill the box. There is a how to drill the airbox on here somewhere

I love the noise of a drilled airbox. Fair enough it may actually sap a tiny amount of power but I can handle that

    Its the way forward tbh....

plus you can get a cold air pipe then.

also, you can keep your standard airbox for when you sell the car...

That's why Porsche and Ferrari fit K&N filters as standard....

... oh hang on... No they don't - they fit PAPER ones!

I took the baffle out on a Mk2 2.0 8v. Don't think it made any difference, TBH.

I'm sure its on here somewhere its a guide wiv links.

There was a test on a filters for a BMW and the paper one came out on top but not by a lot.

I have a K&N panel but thats cos I like the growl which is a little bit more than the papers make, Also to get any sort of gain you really need to fit a nice s/s zaust system to help the flow the other end.

the clue is in the name. air filter. ive had a close look at cotton filters in the past and the holes in those things are amazing. its meant to filter ffs... hence i car manufacturers dont use em haha
