My Seat Arosa has an Immobiliser as standard, but i was thinking of getting a Stop-lock pro as a visable deterent as its not too larger but is known to work well.

Anyone else use these or do people think for 50 i might as well get a cheap alarm installed?

I find them a little bit too big (if you mean the one's that cover the WHOLE wheel).

The stop lock pro seems the most compact one for that cat 3. [IMG]

What you guys reckon as an altenative to a disklock?

to be honest only used if for a few weeks (paranoia & all that) found biggest prob. was where to store the bulky thing when you are not using it? (mine now lives in the outside shed, waste of money in my opinion.

yeah i just put mine behind the seat..if you have a car full of passengers it has a case that velcros to the boot floor

with the ones that dont cover the whole wheel, crooks can hacksaw through the steering wheel pretty quick...you see it on them car crime programes

Diskloc (however you spell it) here too, yes, it's a bit bulky but easily fits in the rear passenger footwell. Just been out with myself and four passengers, just stuck it in the front passenger footwell and passenger put her feet on it, no hassle really.

I fit it whenever and wherever I park, even in the garage and the car has a Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser too... I'm not paranoid or anything about it going missing! :p

Its not paranoia. Its common sense with all the thieving scrotes about these days. Two cars parked on the same street, one with a diskloc, and one without. Which is mr smack-head going to target ? [:[]

I agree, hate leaving my car anywhere. I'd be gutted if it got nicked and I hadn't put the diskloc. Just gives you extra piece of mind.

I use tesco chicken deli bags.
One look at a car full of them and thieves don't even want to bother.

Disklok. My MK2 Valver was officially ****ed after it was broken into.

The thing is that the Valver had a cobra alarm and immobiliser. Which they didn't notice until they got into the car, bent the steering wheel and column (didn't break the steering lock), smashed the column clamshell to hot wire it, then realised it was immobilised. They ripped the immobiliser out, it was a defunct model, couldn't get the spares to sort it. End result was that it'd have been bloody expensive to put back on the road as nobody could work out the wiring, and they'd broken a fair few parts.

OTOH, you've got to be absolutely battered to not notice a 12" yellow steel disk over the steering wheel, and so car thieves tend not to bother.

Quick update, i ended up getting the Metro Stoplock-pro as its has its credentials in tests, can be stored away easily due to its sleek size and also acts as a visible deterent.

Managed to get one BRAND SPANKING NEW delivered to my door for 16 :)

Never bothered with one personally as after seeing a programme where a load of em were tested it put me right off. The bloke managed to get most of em off within 20 seconds or similar and the rest shortly after. Think the best one withstood 1 minute 14 seconds or something but cost near on 200 for the privilige. (was a few years back mind) Visible deterent yes but for the hassle of fitting and removing it every time I'd rather make sure nothing valuable was left on show (never is) and that the car had a decent alarm\immobiliser fitted instead. If you're that worried then just fit the supplied stickers to the windows so they can't miss em.
