    Hi

I bought a set of armor door plate from C&R as someone broke into my golf2 and left some damage on the door a couple days ago [:^(] .

I saw a catalogue of C&R and they also sell door plates for rear doors. My golf2 gti is 4 door model, so....

my question is: do I need them for rear door? I heard we need them just for front door. If not, why does C&R sell them?

    Thanks.

Not quite, as it shows you in the installation manual the back ones are slightly different, as the flanges have to be smaller to allow the lever to work, it even shows you how much metal to grind off the front ADPs to allow them top be used on back doors.

    :) Thanks for the replies.

But what I wanted to know is:
whether rear doors need to be protected by armor door plates to prevent Pry-Ins like front doors needs to be or not.

Can you break into the golf2 from rear as could be done from front door? If so, I must have plates for rear. I wouldn't feel any good without them.

Anyone! please answer this qestion! [8(]

    Thanks a lot!

AFAIK the back door lock on a doesnt have an external (handle) unlock lever as the ADP protects this lever from screwdriver attack, therefore rear ADPs shouldnt be nessasary, though it is wise to install an rip plate on each lock mechanism, these are avaliable from VW as part no

    191 837 273 RIP PLATELEFT (Off Side)
    191 837 274 RIP PLATERIGHT (Near Side)

These are fitted by removing the lock mechanism, by removing the two 6mm allen key countersunk bolts and fitting the rip plate between the lock mech and the door, covering the internal unlock lever.

Fitting these makes it harder for someone to use a "Slim-Jim" on the door lock.

I'll try and take some pics in the next couple of days as I'm currently fitting a set.

ETKA only lists them for 90-91 cars, do you know if they'll fit earlier cars? The door locks have different part no.s for early/late cars, don't know if there's much difference between the two?
