Anyone know much about them? Can't seem to find much out about them on the net.

    I know they're 30 valve, about 190 bhp. Can't find a torque figure for
them though. Parkers say it's 7.1 to 60 (which I find a little hard to
    beleive, it's a very heavy car), and 145mph. Without the 4wd it's a
supposed 150mph car. Economy also increases to 30mpg (from 26) when
    it's 2wd.

They seem to be a bit of a bargain. About 4.5k FROM AN AUDI DEALER for
    a P plater. There's
    <a href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-A4-2-8-V6-QUATTRO-1999-V-REG-ONE-OWNER-FROM-NEW_W0QQitemZ4585477678QQcategoryZ9835QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank">this
one</a> from ebay, which went for 4850 on a V plate.

Has anyone got any experience of them? They seem like a bit of a
bargain to me. Cheaper than a 4Motion (which is the other option) and
in my eyes a bit more desireable. As far as reliability goes I can't
see many potential issues. No turbo to explode, 190bph from a 2.8 means
that like a VR it's not particularly stressed. I presume it's an
ordinary 6 pot (ie. not a narrow angle jobbie). Really need to find out
that torque figure, I can only imagine it's quite high since it's got
to pull 150mph gearing AND 4wd.

And plus, I think they look great!

    Fordo!:)

You wont see 30mpg, on a 15 mile commute I think Grant was moaning of it being in the low 20's?

A nice car to own I should imagine, never driven it but passengered in it and was the regular audi solid feeling car. Like you said though very heavy and for that much money you can get the FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR superior Saab 95 Aero.

    I don't want a Vectra though...:lol::lol::lol:

What engine's the Saab then? I just really like the A4's and I want
something that's comfy and has a bit of a turn of speed on the
motorway, not too worried about 0-60, that's not what this car's about.
    Who's Grant?

    Hmmmm, one of
    these
I presume! Nice car, but a) The missus wouldn't go for it and b) at
100k that turbo is going to be expensive to replace should it need to
be. Would like to have a go, but it just doesn't do it for me like the
    Audi!

Do they do it in TDI flavour like the A6? They deffinately have enough torque ;)

I suppose it would be holding its value a bit more though.

Yeah they do the 2.5 V6 TDI. They're a bit more expensive. You can get
that engine in a Passat for similar money, but I've really got a
    hankering for an A4.

The Saab would be a gear higher and still waste the Audi, it is THE most comfortable car I have ever drivem 150K with no problems seems to be the norm, very fast and as an estate incredibly practical. Vectra platform or not the A4 wouldn't see where it went.

Only problem being the 3 spokes

Yeah, I take your point. I'm not going into this with ultimate speed in
mind though. If I were looking at 250bhp I'd have a V70 T5 Estate every
time, but the insurance is just stupid. The Saab just lacks a bit of
class imho, and the 'cockpit inspired interior' is just aweful.

An old house mate had an A6 2.8 quattro and it went pretty well, so imagine it'll be a tad quicker in the lighter A4. I imagine it'll take a while to wind up to 150 mph though!

They make a lovely noise and very smooth [:D]

The B5 chassis got a face lift around mid 1999 onwards, which are more desirable (well with the S4 anyhoos).

Very nice car and well put together :)
