Hi folks...bout a stainless zorst from them a few weeks back, its been back twice now as first time is was knocking on body...now its blowing from a joint. is it such a hard job sealing a zorst?? anyone else had minor troubles??? also wheel alignment was incorrct too. anyone recommend northwest vw specialist??
I fitted my own exhaust a Sebring st/st one and it wasn`t the best job I had ever done, very hard to do in your garage yourself,so I went to local Kwik-Fit and the guys were really helpful in setting it up right and done a great job too.
yeah i think ill go locally....ive had 2 160 mile round trips....aint doing another for my zorst. ill try local zorst centre...mite even sell zorst if anyone wants it as i think it to loud...well it aint im just an old git
i got told to f... off by kwik-fit as they only worked on "standard cars with standard exhausts", cheers guys!!! Edited by: steveg60cab
I've used a number of different kwik-fits for various jobs - and the attitudes vary enormously. As for Awesome - I've heard nothing but praise for them TBH.
oh not really sl*gging em...id go back again.. just not for this exhaust refitting...as its a f**king long way for that. cheers.
well finally got my zorst sorted...needed new cat...my bros garage re fitted everything....i was shocked when i looked underneath....they had put zorst on using the absolutely fecked rubbers!!! then putting tie wraps round em to hold em up!!! hell never seen oiut like that before!!! it bang on now
I had a zorst fitted by them and no probs at all --- also had a prob with the silencer about 3 years later and they replaced with no questions. Think its just an unfortunate 1 off mate
where abouts in the northwest? I had an exhaust fitted by Greenwoods in Rochdale a couple of years ago on my mk4 polo. I was always happy with it.
Did you ask for the rubbers to be changed as most places don't fit new ones as part of the deal? The cable ties were probably there to "tighten" the rubber up,probably if the exhaust needed more clearance eg if it's a bigger bore/silencer.The opposite is done by putting blocks of rubber in the holes in the exaust rubber to strech it,also held in place with cable ties. There's a saying in exhaust fitting that if it's not standard expect it not to fit, stainless systems in particular are swines as they expand and contract greatly with driving(heat). Also if the cat was the problem surely that was'nt the exhaust's fault. What was wrong with the geo settings, was it outside the specs?Remember if the cars been lowered or generally buggered about with this alters things,I've seen cars so low it's impossible to get the heads(guages)on the wheels without jacking the body up.......which then knocks the geo out when lowered.Thats why fitters often tell modded cars to sod off,all that "show and shine" and never a drop of oil on the TCA threads etc. which are invariably seized and take ages to free. I always used to use Awesome when they were at Rawtenstall and never had a problem, then Dubsport till it was sold,do it meself now to be honest.
