    Hello CGTI,

I'm seriously considering converting my ABF to ITB as I'm tired of my weber 45's rarely running well.
Stumbled across a kit from Badger 5 for direct to head ITB and was wondering if anyone had used their them. Initially I was looking at a Jenvey setup with Emerald ecu after speaking with other members but this could prove more expensive than I can go at the moment.

Here is the info and link:
Badger5 Direct to Head VW/Seat/Audi Full kit, includes
    - one pair of Badger5 45mm DTH throttle bodies
    - 4 x 45mmx120mm Air Horns
    - fuel rails
    - throttle Pot
    - throttle pot connector
    - throttle mechanism (for use with stock VW/Seat cable)
    - 36-1 crank trigger wheel
    - crank trigger sensor
    - water temp sensor
    - air temp sensor
    - ignition coil pack
    - crank trigger wheel mounting boss
    - wiring loom
    - DTA EXP48 ecu
    - DTA realtime mapping software
    - PC serial communication lead
    - Badger5 evolved engine map.

    Thanks for looking.

    Rob,
That link is 2001! The DTA EXP48 ECUs are obsolete.

The DTH throttle kits, are available from Bill or direct from Jenvey. Very easy to work with. In fact you could bolt the kit on yourself, then take it to get it wired and mapped after.

Here is one example Adey's Monza Blue that PAB fitted DTHs too and mapped by yours truely after.

Ah...I thought the web page looked a little dated. Thanks Adlai. I think this will be happening fairly soon as I'm a bit tired of the webers reliability. I've asked Darren for a supply and fit quote.
    Cheers for the thread link.

Roughly what price does the DTH kit run at before mapping?

    Hi sparrow.

Myself and Darren from VW Enterprises have seen bobbito's ( Robert's ) car and have listened to what his main concerns were, in terms of engine response from the twin carb set up. Darren has also worked on it.
Based on understanding his expectations and the fact he has been in faster responding cars like JENVEE with a plenum manifold, we both encouraged him to run ITBs and a SEM.
As he already has a DCOE manifold, he really needs just the throttles with a set of matching injectors.
VW Enterprises can provide the loom and ECU (Emerald K6) plus professionally fit.
This specific engine is an ABF engine, so all engine sensors are compatible with the ECU anyway.

I received an example quotation from Bill this morning but I'm going to wait until I hear back from Darren as I'd prefer to have the work done at VW Enterpise.
There is a slight vacuum leak above cylinder 3 which would require the inlet flange plate to be milled so think it may be prudent to go for DTH ITB's.
I'll be looking to have installed a set of Schrick 276 cams at bought recenetly and run with open trumpets....for the time being at least.
Adlai, did you said the ABF should get a lightened flywheel too?

    Darren will be in touch.
Ideally the flywheel should be lightened to suit your exact requirements yes.
Pm hotgolf on here for more details on that.
