    Quantum Synta Silver.

Made by VW for your engine.

You can get it from your dealer (for less than you think) or GSF.

Quantum Synta is 10W-40 tho, not 15-40 ;)

I've always run all my cars on this with no probs.

Ditto. Quantum Silver, about 14 quid for 5 litres from main dealer and make sure you get a genuine filter (about 3 quid - main dealer) as well.

I've just changed oil and filter (absolute pain in the rectum to remove filter). I used valvoline 10-40 max life. Apperantly mixed with additives for high miler's(75k+).

    Seems ok.

I'd think 5W40 might be inviting trouble with the pump not priming after a change - but if it's in there and running, then it shouldn't do too much harm. At least it's a 40 weight.....

Had Mobil 1 in ours for about 8 years without a problem.

Thought it was the mutts, but some of these posts are giving me cause for doubt!

Not for mine due to me getting the bottom end rebuilt. With the new oil pump in it after the previous owner managed to get it to expload from overheating.

5/40 fully synth. Engine purrs like a dream.
