I have started breaking a mk3, it will not be rolling so whats the best way of cutting it up for disposal. I was thinking right down the middle front to back avoiding any solid beams.
glass doors boot will be removed beforehand

    Roof off with a hacksaw

    Pillars off

Cut across the drivers door sills, floor & tunnel.

Down the middle of the bulkhead

    /front end done

Rear is similar. Just avoid where you think there's thick metal.

no one is interested if the car isnt whole and I dont fancy paying for someone to take it away, rather do the hard graft myself. Ive only got an angle grinder but maybe I need something like what that mad Leepu uses in chopshop, that giant electric knife seems to cut through a pillars like butter. I have a compressor, I wonder if i can get one to fit onto that. researching correct tool name now.......

edit: its a Reciprocating Air Saw

you best bet is to find out how the police/council use to remove abandoned cars
as they tend to be free

I work for the bloody council, I will phone the relevant department on Monday ;) although I wouldnt be surprised if the council get charged by the removal company so that would be a no go.

I doubt you'll have to pay to get rid of it- scrap metal has a reasonable value these days hence all the 'scrap cars wanted' signs all over the place. Ring one of those, get some mush to collect it free.
FYI I just scrapped a Golf shell, filled with a load of other car junk and got 80 at the scrappy for it..

it is difficult I just about managed to get rid of a mk1 cabby shell earlier this year for free. Most places local to Slough were quoting 50. you need some serious tonnage if you are to make money out of scrap metal, an empty shell just doesnt weigh enough.

In Eire the travellers call regularly to see if I have any scrap.
They took away my daughter's 1982 Polo GLS. Half a dozen of their lads dragged it onto a trailer. Then we threw in all of the other scrap lying about.
Why not visit your local Gypsy camp?

Gas-axe and 9-inch grinder is how we did a Corrado. Fitted into the back of a T4 quite nicely...
