Yeh sorry I mean the feathered variety. This (think it's a sparrow hawk) was eating a pigeon on the path to my front door when I came home today. It flew off when I got out of the car but came back when I went inside. Didn't seem too bothered that I was watching (literally from about 3m away) so I got a photo.
is it a Peregrine?, they take pigeons on the wing and feed on the floor, had one that looked just like this in my back garden as well
sod having to eat something where you have to navigate so many bloody feathers with only a tiny beak.....
Its a Musket (Male Sparrowhawk), a fantastic little bird with the heart of a lion. I had one just like it a few years ago.....
they move so fast! the best way i find is to have a high f stop and as fast a shutterspeed as possible! but im still perfecting it to! lol
Spotted this heron on a walk a few months back. He started off on the same side of the river as the shot was taken, but waited for me to get to that side, before hopping over to the opposite side! Then I waited an hour for him to catch something...
Some cracking bird pictures in this thread I love the one of the chap cuddling his bird and the one of the multi-coloured parakeets. Are they rosellas?
the one with that chap cuddling is bird is brilliant such an inspiring looking bird (and a very scary one the shape of his head jusj suggests airial domination)
They are Lorikeets... there's a fair few just round near where we live... bloody noisy too!! Although I do have pics of Rosellas also (the crimson variety)... BTW.. the 'chap' is actually bird of the non-feathered variety... close-ups can be not so flattering! If there's ever a pic thread on kangaroos... I've got soooo may it's just not funny!!
