Anyone know where to get a resistor pack from for the blower motor? Mine has two speeds ON and OFF, but it is a quiet blower motor so I don't want to replace it. Thanks Nick
can't say for certain, ill have a look tomorrow, but i'm sure i have one spare, you can have it for nowt, just price of postage
before you replace the resistor pack, make sure the actual fan motor spins easily enough. If the bearing start to fail, the motor will get stiff, draw extra current and blow the resistor pack again
very true andyg, the motor is in a position that allows moisture to attack the fan shaft, and the damp just runs downwards and makes the shaft seize or stiffen up,causing lots of resistance thus blowing the resister pack,if thats the case you can sometimes get away with taking the blade part off and freeing it up with some lube
i wouldnt have thort so,its more like the motor itself than the resistor, they will slow down or seem to get weaker before the resistor blows,id say it was a good time to do what i said above, take the blade part off and give it a clean and lube
not sure about that, but if its moving freely and smooth i wouldn't expect the resistor pack to blow, the few I've replaced, you couldn't spin the fan one full turn,so i would say if you can get one to two turns of the blades by spinning up by hand, its fine
If you've got one mate that'd be sound. I'll strip it down and lube it up when i change that. I'm assuming you just solder it in? Nick
no they dont solder in they have terminals on iirc and i totaly forgot to look (old age) have put a note on the screen to remind me to look in the morning ,will report back tomorow
sod it ive just looked now.i have 2, part numbers on them are 192 959 263 A and under that is HO4 023 481 E and they do just have spade connectors so no soldering required P.M me your address
