I have an old nokia 6630 lying about from my old contract and i see it can run tomtom mobile - I wonder, does it require a phone signal to work, or is the whole thing done through the bluetooth GPS reciever?

Doesnt require a phone signal. My 30 GPS receiver works great with my 6680. Remember to change the options off the Tomtom receiver in the setup.
