    Hiya guys.

I'm just in the process of designing a boot build. i've just hit a problem. Everyone thats got a fairly complex boot build... How do you get the spare wheel out.
I've thought about hatches in the floor but its always going to be a problem hiding the gap..... Hmmmmmmm

I'd just like your opinions. i was thinking of moving everything farward and putting it behind the seat. and then i could also set the amp in the floor.

Remove the spare wheel well, plate it flat, then bolt the spare on underneath, that's how I got round it.

    what size are your wheels?

i have 17" with pretty low pro' tyres. so if i get a flat my spare wheel isnt going to be a great help. due to it being a fair amount smaller!

so i came to the conclusion to dump it,

my other idea was to make the boot so i am able to drop the back seats. i can then slide my sub box back over where the seats were then hinge up the false floor to get to the wheel,

thats what i'v done i made a false floor built everything onto it and gave all the wiring enough give so as if i do need to get the wheel out i fold the rear seats flat and slide it all forward it's not the easiest thing to do but at least it's an option

only other way is a can of tyre weld

i've got 15s on it at the mo. I've got the super thin VW wheels so i think i'm going to make it so i can lift a large compartment at the front of the build infront of the sub. The gap will be hidden by the sub then. the sun needs to be fastened down to the floor and all the wires are going under the floor

    Chears for your help guys

    Hi,

why can't you hinge your floor? thats what i've done, ive got two
amps and a sub (in a box). The sub and 1 of the amps are mounted
on the rear portion of the false floor (which does not move) and 1
amp mounted on a false side (receded so that the floor portion
closest to the rear bumper can move up and down freely). This
allows me to keep my spare tyre and all i have to do is to flip up the
back portion of my rear floor and slide out the tyre (this is quite
tricky, but its easier than unbolting it from the underside of your
vehicle or calling up the RAC for a re-inflate lol.

If you wan't a pic send me an email (hiren_a@hotmail.com), the
hinges are covered up by carpet so you can't see em, but the down
side of course is that you cant have your ICE mounted against the
back end of your boot (closest to bumper) and if you keep lifting up
your hinged floor, the carpet can crease in time (although it hasnt
happened to mine and ive had it for 6 months).

thats exactly what i'm thinking of doing? Have you bolted the bit nearest to the rear seat to the chassis then?

    Chears for your help

could you send me pictures to jack@xtremeaction.co.uk

tyre weld does'nt really work when you get a total blow out and a hole in the side of your tyre about the size of a 50p coin. + I'd have to carry round one of the fag lighter compresser things as well.

vdubber, is okay if i send you a short video clip? avi? my camera is
broken. also, non of its bolted down, becuase its shaped to the boot
floor sides (which is curved where the wheels arches are) so it only
has tiny bit of free play, it doesnt move at all becuase of the weight
of the items on it (the amps and sub).

I did the same as hiren, i think. I used the exsisting boot carpet as a template, then transferred it to 12mm MDF. hinged along the back. subs sit on fixed portion, amp on hinged bit.
    Original carpet glued on top
