Thinking of maybe one of these in the future for towing a trailered mk1 & using for me, the misses & potential future family. whats your views on them & what specs would you go for vs cost
I think with the Passat being a longer car,It will be the better option for towing, especially a heavy car/trailer combo! At the moment they are doing good deals on Passats too,as there is a new model due out late summer.Think they do a Highline model with all the toys for no extra
Passat, would have to have all the chrome round the windows and definatly v6 4 motion, was blown away by the one I went in the other day, lovely half leather/alacantra interior...fully loaded and for sale for cheap money
Was looking at both myself recently and as said with both due for a change deals are to be had.My preference would be Passat for size and if economy is issue then PD130 for mpg/performance. In saying that I bought a Vauxhall Vectra instead as it was cheaper
The passat is v nice but I dont think it will be able to tow another car on a trailer. It is a minefield the towing game been through it all when we used to do offroading.
depends on the engine and body specs? i would say the passat for its size and luxuries but the bora for performance
I'd have to say otherwise, even my mates old Mk2 Passat tows a car trailer no problem at all. It depends totally what car is on the trailer. I can imagine that towing a tall wobbly 4x4 on a trailer is going to be a nightmare whatever you use. Odd fact for the day - My Dad used to tow a caravan all the time for holidays, and back then the Passat won 'tow car of the year' several years running from the caravan club. For towing I'd plump for the passat without a doubt though. Longer wheelbase, longitudinal layout, weightier in general.
Are the deisel ones any good with the extra torque or isnt it worth it with deisel prices not being what they used to be?
