Hi all. I’ve had the servo off to redo some wiring. I had to brake the clip to get it off. Vw/ Audi won’t sell me the tool to do it with. I’ve managed to bust the old one out with lots of swears. does anyone know the reinstall procedure? I broke my first clip last time I did this and really don’t want to have to wait and buy another and can’t remember how I did it. My least favourite task ever.
Is it the mk3 uses a clip, or am I thinking of the clutch pedal one? Isn't there a tip in the Haynes manual that you use 2 flatblade screwdrivers, to remove at least?

It’s mk3 golf but believe it’s found on few other platforms. And similar on a lot of Audi/vw, even the newer ones. It’s a nightmare. So reinstalling, if you’ve had to brake the clip to remove, you got to take the pedal box out. There’s no avoiding it. I had blanked it from my mind apparently. The brake pedal spring prevents clip from seating properly, stopping the servo rod from seating properly into the clip. thanks for the link, I searched and searched and best I could find was one from merica which after postage and tax was £50 something. I tried to make one but it didn’t work.. Be nice if vw would just sell one.

If you broke your clip removing the servo, don't you just replace the white plastic and then push it back in place? Smear of grease may help, and possibly the pedal will swing up if remove brake light switch to get better access for fitting
They know how much time they save I guess? So it’s real hard to get the old one out even once it’s broke free. Drill/ various screw drivers/ awkward positions. Then getting new one in is awkward, but the spring that returns the brake back to its home position needs to be pried up and out the way to allow the new clip to be seated all the way in. Impossible to do with out removing pedal. I spent all day doing this. The last time I did this it was so bad I seem to have drunk it from my head to forget the ordeal. Coursed my self more grief. Might try get some pics later. Might help others.
couple pics just show, if it helps anyone. I’ve ordered a the vw tool 3289. I might get some copies made.
