I am new to the forum and haven't owned a Golf since the day I sold my MK2 16V a few years ago.

Now looking to buy a MK 4 GTi.

Can some of you give me some advice? i.e.

    1. What can I get for around 9,000?
    2. Which is better, 2.0i or 1.8T?
    3. Where is a good place where I can buy a FSH Golf at a decent price? I do not mind travelling for a decent car.

    Many thanks.

all i know is that the 2.0L is slow so the 1.8T is the better choice, thats all i know about mk4s really

The 2.0 isnt really a GTI, its a rebadged Golf Highline. If you want a GTI, 1.8T - either 150 or 180 BHP - is the only choice.

9K will get you a 2000ish 1.8T 150BHP with medium miles, and both 150/180 models can be chipped to 200BHP relatively easily and cheaply if you wish.
