Hi folks, Gonna be changing my gearbox oil tommorow. Whats the best fluid to use? It was replaced at 77K with Mobil 1 75w-90w and I'm on 109K just now.. Gearchnage is fine but I have a track night on Thursday and a remap is on the cards in the next month or so and I'd rather be safe than sorry. Trouble is I have coilovers and I dunno whether I'll be able to trust the filler level hole as my car may not be 'level' front to back so to speak. How can I check the level then? Anything else to be aware of?
I just put the VW synth gear oil in my 020 and it seems to be a lot better for it.12 per litre btw. I filled mine through the speedo drive hole which made life quite easy.
Does anyone know the part number of the vag fully synthetic oil? last time i went the parts guy wasnt sure what i was after, i ended up using the normal stuff.
