So my Golf MK4 has had several incidents with a jack (before I owned it) which has resulted in the seam welds being crushed at the front.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to fix this? And if they can be reinforced to prevent it happening again? For comparison I have a Fabia 1 and the sills and welds on that are lie rock, even away from jacking points. Is it just the shape of the MK4 sills that makes them a bit weak?

You need some higher gauge steel and go to town with the welder [:D]

I feel the welder will be the way to go

side one is just pushed in, the weld is still straight. Side 2 however, FUBAR

In the first image you may be able to get most of that dent out by using a tool from the access hole to the right. Perhaps heat the area at the same time. You'll ruin the paint but that can be rectified obviously.
In the second image, if it were me, I would straighten it as best I could and then fill the holes in the seam with weld and grind back until it looks as it should. Again, paint work will be needed.
Just my thoughts based on my experience. I'm an OK welder but by no means an expert.

What idiot jacks it on the sill next to the jacking point and not on it !!! (The triangular indent marks the area below it as the jacking point area). Welder mate it's the way forward or just leave it.

    I’d leave it personally.

Or you could weld a slide thingy too it and pull it out that way.
