Been years and years since I brought a car stereo, are Clarion any good? Fancy something I can connect the ipod to, and as sad as it is, I like a radio that illuminates green and doesn't stand out to much from the mk2 dash.

    Found this:

    Any other suggestions?

i know what you are saying Ian about the illumination thing! Ive got an alpine in mine which has an output on it to connect up a seperate box so you can run an ipod off it, i keep meaning to get around to buying one and fitting it!

I bought a cheap 88 sony CDX GT610U with a usb plug on the front and just stick in a 20gb usb full of mp3s.

Doesnt work with ipods though, I have tried, but seeing as I dont have an ipod... but you can buy an adapter apparently.

It does has 3 different colours for the front, including green. Connects fine to my alpine amp.

But it does have a remote control!

    What`s you`re budget?

This is pretty much the best all-rounder head unit I`ve seen.

    Alpine CDE-113BT.

Illumination can be made green. Full speed iPod/iPhone connectivity (via seperate lead), and has Parrot Bluetooth handsfree built in. Two Pre-outs for an amp/sub combos (with level controls too). USB and Aux ports on the front too. I think it may have a CD changer connection also.

Excellent for the price IMO.

I think clarion are quality. Have them in both my cars. No clipping from RCA's at full volume, good internal crossovers. I like them because you don't have to pay extra for fancy screen colours or moving pictures or high power amps that you may not even use. You may need a separate box for an ipod controller though. On mine you do but newer ones may be different.

Don't see much for the price that doesn't need an extra box or cable for the ipod or am I looking in the wrong place?

Yea i just prefer it to look like it belongs there and don't stand out like some chavy flashy thing.

Cheap as possible! 100ish at the most, only after one because my autochanger packed up and I've got no tapes!
