Got my first Golf 4 weeks ago a 1.8 20v Turbo MK4 2001, but the coil went the other day [:^(] , was there a recall for the coils? Cheers

Your car has 4 coil packs. 19+vat each.

I blew a couple in my mk2 20vt till I discovered the cause (rev limiter on the Emerald ecu).

Could you PM me your reg and I'll get my brother to check it out on the computer at work (VW Dealership), to see if your car has any outstanding recalls.

Basically on the 1.8T models you have 5 years and 999999 miles goodwill on coils - if they come back and say they cant get goodwill ask them to check on the system using

    Damage number = 2820
    Damage code = 055

There is not a recall in the UK for them - however there are bulletins from VW saying that everytime a 1.8T comes in all coil numbers should be checked and replaced if they fall into the part number range
