hope thats not advertising barny, ;);) ;)

thanks for the offer and extra info, what spare springs do you have?

do you know if the front and rear springs are the same free length? if there not i'll need to change my order.

i thought it was a bit odd when i was told by avo to put the stiffer springs on the front as all the threads i've read on here said to go with the stiffer on the rear.

hopefully catch you at the next meet and poss' go for a passenger ride in your car if thats ok?

    cheers

    steve

    Hi

I have harder front springs than rear and mine goes ok - I would think twice before putting harder rears on as you will get quite a twitchy car that turns in well but could oversteer quickly - fine if you like this but hard to catch if you dont and are not used to it.

Avo's original suggestion sounded sensible to me - 350F, 250R - very similar to what I have been running with road tyres - near neutral handling, little understeer that can be tuned with tyre pressures

And this will feel firm on the road. :o - especially with the Shine mounts

cheers rob, what car/suspension do you have?

i'm getting into a right mess trying to decide what to do about these springs, i think i might stick with the springs i have on order and see how the car handles and then make any adjustments, as joe said they are only about 20 each so its not too expesnive to play around with.

those shine mounts are just eye candy at the moment, maybe in the future when i'm a better driver and need to make more adjustments to the settings on my car i'll seriously look into getting a set,

    very impressed barny,

not as harsh a ride as you might imagine with those high spring rates, obviously it was firm but not in an overly uncomfortable way.

i'd say your car could be driven on a daily basis without any major problems, and the way it handled around the roundabouts makes it all worth while in my opinion.

as you said on the drive its down to individual tastes and what you want from a car.

AVO will be getting a call tomorrow to chase up my suspension that should have been done by now. after the ride in your car i want mine on the road asap.

    thanks again

avo called me today, coilovers are in the post,

bled the brakes and clutch (castrol super 4)and fitted the single wiper and punto rear wiper this afternoon.

hopefully get suspension and eibch brace on this weekend
but the exhaust down pipe and box is shot so that needs replacing b4 its drivable.

    wow over 4 years old......

I had rebuilt AVO's with 350 front and 250 rears, they worked well but the rears started leaking so I've just bought a set of GAZ golds with 500 front and 350 rears. I'm sticking with the original spring rates for the ring trip and curborough and will try the higher rates on the next full trackday i do.
