Hi, there is a leak on my MK2 golf GTD. Can't find much info on it anywhere, can anyone help? It's located in between the engine and the intercooler, sticking up with very little support. There is a two wire connector into the top that runs to the back of the bay, possibly to the dash.
    Cheers, joe

we need a bit more. can you see any white staining around the hoses? If so take them off, new jubilee clip a little bit of grease to close the weeping joint.

    A new bit of hose?

If there is no staining run the car and see if you can see the leak.

Could it be the inter cooler itself? Give us some more history and mileage.

Thanks for the reply and apologies about the poor description.
The car has done ~135,000 miles.

Now the part that is leaking:
A metal cylindrical tube that looks like it is made up of 2 or 3 pieces with a plastic cap and a 2 pin sensor on top. There is a coolant hose coming off at a right angle half way up that runs to a thinner metal pipe behind the engine and then looks like it goes into the turbo...?
There is a metal pipe that runs around the base of the engine that feeds it. Water pump and oil cooler to the left and then this things that sticks up at a right angle, in between the engine intercooler and rad. The pipe then continues to the back of the car, the matrix mabey?

You'll have to forgive my naivety the cars older than me and I've only had her half a year.

    Thanks again, Joe

P.s: is there any way of uploading photographs.

Can you describe where you mean on this pic that I've stolen out of an old For Sale ad?

The thing that the thin radiator expansion hose is draping across, just right of the dipstick?

The coolant level sensor is the connector you can see near the top of the round plastic coolant reservoir.

Yeah it's that thing on the right of the dipstick. Any thoughts?
It looks like it's made up of a few parts but I can't fathom how to get it apart.
    Cheers, Joe

No idea what that is, sorry. Can you post a pic of it from above?

That thin rad hose hasn't chafed through and started squirting around?

Yeah I think it is the aux water pump. Thanks.
Does anyone know if this is on any other models? Been quoted over 100 sheets for a new one.
Is it possible the one of a vr6 would fit?
