I believe should have some improvement in performance because the corrado vr6 2.9 ecu is tune for 190bhp and the golf mk3 vr6 2.8 ecu is tune for 174bhp!

Nope - larger bore giving a capacity increase is why the Corrado makes more power and timings all suited to an 82mm bore as opposed to an 81mm bore engine.

If you want a quick solution for an older engine - get some Redex to clean it out, new filters and oil change then think about replacing the plugs and leads to keep the sparks fresh!

It's been a while since I did any head work on a 12V but thought the AAA was too? Or is that about 10.3:1?

I will check on the ABV a bit later. AAA is defo 10:1. I vaguely recall a difference in the tables in this section.

10:1? I am sure it was about 10.5:1 when I did a friends Golf, like I say, it was about five years ago now though but I remember it not being near a full point when measured.

Checked and both engine's are 10:1 CR from VW documentation as in my table. So I stand corrected with the 10.5 comment on the ABV earlier.

The difference in both are the 82mm bore on the ABV and camshaft sets that have different lobe centre angles.
