    Hi, I have a 8v Freg 1800 GTi,

I know my CV Boot has torn but the car also makes noise when I turn it away from the side which the cv has torn on. Should this be the case? Is it just a case of replacing the CV Boot?

is it a clicking kind of noise? if so, the joint will be away, because there will be no grease left in the joint. should cost 50 plus vat supplied and fitted

do I need 2 replace the full cv joint? or just buy a cv boot kit, which would include the plastic part?

cv boots are about 5, and come with a tube of greese and cable ties. but that is only the boot, the joint is the main part

I believe its just the plastic part which has torn, so just buying and replacing that part!

i know that the plastic part has torn, that means there will be no grease left in the joint, and if you dont know how long the car has been driving about with no grease good chance the joint will not last long!

Replacing the boot is exactly the same process as replacing the joint.

No short cut! If your keeping the car or you know the joint and boot are old, you may as well do the whole job.

not cost effective to come back twice on a job. For another 30 you get your joint.

    Cheers Domma........
