    On the way home from this years run to the sun show and shine this happened;

too fast on a sharp corner, turbo kicked in mid bend and the tail snapped out, hit a hedge or two and finished up in the middle of the road. It was a really mint car as well, always getting comments on the condition, one of the cleanest i've seen even so called 'show cars' had more faults than this - never mind at least everyone was ok and no action was taken by the old bill.

Luke and I have converted him to vag, he's gonna go for an A6 2.5 TDI sport quattro estate, nice dark colour with decent size wheels and a healthy drop

Though surely the cossie is fixable (maybe not cheaply - but might be worth it for a car like that)?

    aaaah, you're luke W's brother?

I didn't think there could be too many white 3dr cossies in cornwall, thought that was up for sale/sold?

    anyway, such a shame.........

Yeah it could be reshelled but brand new shells aren't cheap at 8000 euros! plus most parts are rare as rocking horse poo, front bumpers, wings and grills are hard to find, would be a nightmare and hugely expensive. The reason for the audi is purely because he wants a car to use whenever and wherever, the cossie was never driven because it was too risky leaving it anywhere and getting damaged or nicked (ironic now) plus he turns 50 next month and wants a senible car!

i would never own a car i wouldnt drive through worrying about it.... tis pointless. He should have driven it everywhere (in hind sight) and had fun with it untill he eventually wrecked it lol.

still A6 avent is a nice motor

It got driven on nice sunny weekends and normally very hard (I think he managed 160mph before once before backing off) it was driving it hard and having fun that got it written off

Like wise till i found out more About them eg: INSURANCE!, STOLEN RATINGS ,PRICES, RUNNING COST.....ect
Im not a big fan of the sierra cosworth.....WAY! TO BIG and ugly but its top of the classic list out of the escort and saphire cosworth all 3 of them cars has my respect. Fords at Ford night at ace cafe are cleaner then when thay left the factory 20 odd years ago

It's sad to see this or anykind of damage to a rare classic!....[:^(] .

    noooooooooooooooooo [:^(]

I am so gutted for your Dad mate. They are so rare and hard to come by these days.
I love the old Sierra 3dr Cossie's, probably the best old skool ford ever...

My brothers good friend had a black RS 500, and its gotta be one of the quickest cars ive ever been in.

So is it totally written off then? Looks like the chassis would have gone from the pictures.

Yeah the front chassis legs are totally fubar and the rear quarter is pushed in along with the rear inner arch and boot floor, the main shell ie. the roof, floor, sills and door frames are ok though but still the cost of repair outways the value, was for sale a couple of months ago for 9 grand although the insurers are paying a bit less without the option to buy it back so lost out on a bit of money

    Noooooooo....... [8(]

    That's a bloody downright shame. [:^(]

Never been a fan of Fords. The exeption being the Cosworths!

My mates 'old' neebour had a mint (and I mean mint) showroom condition 4WD grey Sapphire from new - leather & the works and apparently tuned to the moon. The funny thing was he didn't look like a car nut. Always garaged and cleaned like you wouldn't believe. That car was simply gorgeous. He moved to Harris about 5 years ago and some time later we heard that it had been written off. My mate and I were totally gutted for him but it turns out he bought it back from the insurers and spent about 12K rebuilding it. Never seen it since but a part of me would have died if it had went to car heaven.
