Anyone ever had a problem with damage to lifter bores?

I noticed a couple of scratches on my 9a head. The engine is stripped for a rebuild and I'm wondering if this is going to cause issues. I'll try and get pics of the scratches later.

Are these the sort of areas which need to be 'cam lobe' style perfect surfaces or can there be a little variation?

I'm just wondering if I port this head will it be wasted effort if the lifter bores are going to cause problems.

if you mean where the lifters sit, the only problem i can see with this is if the scratches are very bad you may loose oil pressure to the tappets. apart from that as long as the lifters move freely you should be fine
