Have a word with Keith Smith (Keith R) or visit his site which has all his contact details. http://www.keith.grone.co.uk

He did most of his prep for 2005 on his now totalled MK1, Andy Waters is currently preparing the new car, but keith will tell you all about it. Problem is Andy is in the East Midlands near Mallory Park but if you are to race seriously you will spend many many many days in that part of the world with your race car in tow anyway.

Andy's place is near Cadwell, not Mallory.

Does it have to be someone in the South East who prepares it? At the end of the day, you're going to be parting with a significant amount of money, therefore the quality of the job is more important than where it's done, otherwise you'll end up spending more in the long run.

Although AW Tracksport is tucked away in Lincolnshire,Andy does seem to specialise in VWs, particularly Mk1 & 2 Golfs and his knowledge and attention to detail are exceptional. Plus he is known to quite a few on here who can vouch for his workmanship. Give him a call on 01507 522242, even just for a bit of advice.

thanks guys. Keith R - had a look at your site - seems like you're
having a fun time in stock hatch! I was thinking more of sprints
initially and then after a year of so maybe 750MC Hot Hatch or another
saloon formula. Agree with what you mean about getting a proper job
done but for a year of sprints I'll be going to Lydden
&goodwood/brands/ hethel etc - mainly down south. I really want to
near supplier as i know from experience it a right royal pain when they
    are not close to home.

i've found these guys http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk and spoke to them - they definitely know their
stuff so am going to visit them and get some kind of proposal in
writing. I'll let you know how I get on.

If you've found someone, great! I just didn't know of anyone in the Southern area. All the best to you and if I can help out in any way, just let me know. My email is keith@grone.co.uk.

I've been having awesome fun in stock hatch! It really has been the best thing I've ever undertaken, despite the cost and my recent crash. I just can't wait to get back out there again next year! You're wise doing sprinting first, because at least you can learn to drive a car to the limit, without the worry of other cars around you. I'm having to learn how to drive on the limit, whilst also negotiating a small area of tarmac with a bunch of other hungry, hot tempered racers:lol:!

    All the very best!

You can do a lot more mods in hot hatch.
