    Hello

Recently i have had a problem with my mk2 16v cutting out randomly and not starting again, i have checked that there is fuel getting through, plugs are not old and leads arnt old, and replaced the coil, distributer cap and rotor arm to no avail :( , now im thinking of replacing the whole distributer, but i have been told that it might be the little box ontop of the fei unit, i think its called a tci-h switch, could that be the problem or has anone else any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Would be worth a try yes - its also an idea to take the ECU out and inspect the condition of the connector prongs, make sure they arent corroded.

could be a fuel pressure problem, does it restart after 20mins ish ?

If so change fuel filter first ( unless its been done recently)
Check the lift pump is running
Check the system pressure and control pressure are correct

Could also be the hall sender (inside the distributor) :)

I changed the whole distributer today, and it seems to have sorted the problem altho the fuel thing sounds a likely problem because it does start after a while, but the lift pump is working 100%

I had a similar problem with mine that was the Hall Sensor in the dizzy. What I did notice is that the revs dropped straight to zero even though the car was coasting in gear.

Unfortinately the rotor arm had to be smashed off the shaft on mine so it was off the road for a day whilst obtaining a new arm.

You could see where the cables on the old hall sensor were broken.
