front end of the mk1 was a bit wayward on corners so a lower strut brace was needed. couldn't find a decent one for a decent price so i made my own.

6*30 mm steel with 15mm alu. block dirlled and tapped m8, supports bolted m8 also.

Hard to tell (if you mean in the 1st pic, top right hand corner, highest bolt in view), i think it's the angle of the camera & reflection of the flash?

seen that as well, and it is the flash, well spotted tough.

corners alot better, almoast no corrective steering input needed. i.e. those small adjustments as you corner, it stays on line alot better.

that looks brilliant ! nice bit of triangulation.

not that i disrespect your spanner work, but the more bolts and joins the more chance of it shifting still. centre would be noticeably better welded !

strut brace ver 1.1 maybe ?

it would be all steel welded if i had power in my garage to power a welder, but i don't hence the bolts.

if there is any movement the aluminium, it will distort so easy to remove and the i'll have to make it from steel, better that nothing at all.

its a start at least. something to use as a template to fab up something stronger and more rigid?

I'm thankful that both my GTi's have had them when i bought them.

But you have spoilt all that good work by putting kinks in it?
I have the same thing but using angle rather than flat plate so that there is no flexing at all
