is it coss your door has dropped a bit and is a bit dodgy to shut, if so just get a socket (about 12mm) or somthing simmilar in shape and jam it in the hindge, then slightly bend the hindge, make sure you work out which hindge needs adjusting, sound daft but its easy to do the wrong 1, as an erm friend did[:$] , and you only need the slightest of adjustment.

the hinge bending trick works well, usually its the lower hing that dropps. I use a VW wheel bolt when I do it, the colar at the top stops it falling out.

But I had to go the nopposite way on my GTI becasue the door was too high and sticking out at the top! To correct this I undid the door check strap and opened the door all the way, then pushed it further outwards at the bottom

    nooo
you put a bolt between the hinge and bracket on the car, then slowly close the door on the bolt. As you push this bends the door hinge a little, lifting the door up. Opening the door with the check strap disconnected bends the hinge the other way, dropping the door down.

This is the 'bodgit n scarper' method, the best way is to replace the hinge pin & door hinge half as above, but its not an easy job!

If you really must bend the hinges, then an even easier way to do it (if the doors already off) is to use an adjustable spanner to grip the hinge from above.

yeah but like i said if the door is already off you would be crazy not to just replace the hinges ;)

edit: plus bending em off the car isnt a good idea since you have no idea how much you need to bend em by...

Ah! I thought we were talking about bending the hinge parts on the car itself. [:$] It`s what I did when I fitted later doors to mine. Worked perfectly!

Hi there,my drivers side door dropped so i did the socket in the hinge trick which raised the door,my problem now is that the lock doesn't seem to line up properly now, although it still shuts if you slam it.
Is there any way you can adjust the door locks?i couldn't see a way.
    Cheers Rob.
