I have a set of allen keys with square drive things on them, so i can put my ratchet or breaker bar on the end. But I got them from halfords!!! Have to tried getting a bit of metal pole and putting it over the allen key, so providing a handle?

They are not allen headed bolts.. they are spline drives.

Got mine from the car parts place at the bottom of my road.

I got my spline drive bit from Halfords as part of a set and it done the job nicely.
That was apart from the corroded ones which a dremmel had to take care of.

Draper (don't laugh!!) do a spline set that comes with the socket and two spline keys, one 8mm (for the driveshafts, and one 12mm (for head bolts).

Cost about 8 if I remember (years ago). If it isn't on the shelf, ask the parts guy to order it.

Make sure you hammer it in, before you undo it.... half the time the socket in the bolt is filled with shite. If you have a windy gun, hammer them in and you'll have both shafts out in about 5 minutes......

Get a pick or small screwdriver and clean out the ends first so you can get the tool right in - chances are the ends are or will round off - unless Ihave had them out recently I usually get a new set to put back in !!

They are also technically known as XZN spline keys - might help instead of asking for a plain sline key.

I got a set of spline keys from my local motor factors. Most motor factors or tool shops should be able to get them I'd have thought.

DON'T use an allen key, you will regret it one of these days.

definately hammer the spline key in as well.

GSF sell a set - part no. 98730 6.30. Only has two sizes in the set, but they're the only ones you need.
