Dump Valve Fitting to a MK4 1.8T (newbie)

    Hello im new to this site, just bought a 1.8t golf and ordered a dump valve but not sure how to fit it. its a bailey Evo type Dump valve with FK95 fitting kit.. are these easy to do? any online tutorials or anything.. Thanks guys

    You dont need the fitting kit. Look at back of engine cover, top right and you will see the standard recirc dumpvalve.Pull vacuum hose off top and undo jubilee clip that holds the dumpvalve in.You will need a dumpvalve bung or plug to block the pipe that re-circs.
    Stick new dumpvalve in pipe,tighten jubilee clip to hold it in and fit vacuum hose on top
    Job done.....

    ah.. lol.. so what shall i do with all those blue hoses that came with the kit? i hate bein a newbie :p one day ill learn

    Yes you do need a fitting kit fot that valve. Its not a recirculating type.

    That bailey atmospheric valve needs to be fitted between the IC outlet and throttle body to work correctly (which will be for about a week and then it will fail).

    I'd personally not bother with this type of valve and got for the recirculating type.

    Still dont need fitting kit.I fitted 2 atmospheric dumpvalves last week,1 to seat leon cupra r and 1 to golf mk4.

    i prefer a dump valve as i like the woosh when the pressure builds up [:D].. thanks for your help guys, when it comes through the post ill give it a go. Do they sound good Flusted on the golf mk 4?

    Yeah but you lose power fitting a dump valve.

    Butt plug?? :lol:
    Sounds ok,remember standard, the car runs about 7psi which is not much.Having it remapped should take the boost to 1bar which is 14.7psi
    Then it will ppppttttiiiissssshhhhhhhhhh nicely ;)

    also it would be easy to run 2 dumpvalves! Instead of blocking the re circ pipe with a bung (lol) you could stick another atmospheric dumpvalve in there and just tee into the vacuum hose on top of the other one!

    remap ? [:^(] i dont have a clue [:s] and with regards to not blocking the 2 pipes coming off the recirc valve, how would the DV fit in between those 2 pipes.. or does it just fit into the base part where the recirc valve goes. is the 2 spouts the boost in / out, and do they still need to be blocked?. see i havent got the car to look at as its just in the garage getting cleaned up. so im just going by instructions lol. thanks

    here's an article from Forge Motorsport's website, reprinted from the Uk TT forum, on a comparison between recirculating & atmospheric dump valves;

    "...The design of the TT is such that the air entering the system is metered and if you exhaust any of this to atmosphere then the information the ECU has will be wrong. I decided to take advice on this subject from a TT tuning specialist who is well respected. His reply was that in his opinion the recirculation valves are the best because the re-circulated air helps to keep the turbo spooling quickly, thus reducing any turbo lag. In the interest of fairness to the valve manufacturer I decided to give it a try. The DV 004 worked, but I could not live with that noise. Everyone to their own, but it's not for me..."

    So in short, it'll work, but the re-circulation valves will give you a smoother drive with less lag.

    But thats not a problem if your running aftermarket ECU's :)

    or a vw with aftermarket managment ;) :p

    The Baileys DV30 is a good replacement (re-circulating), I'm gonna be running mine between the inlet manifold and intercooler.

    My setup is in a Mk1 tho, so there will be many other noises to keep me going, such as the sound of the turbo spooling up through the thin bulkhead and the straight through exhaust ! :lol:
