Early Mk2 caliper white Teflon sleeve slider lube.

    Recently overhauled front brakes on my ‘84 GTI. Renewed the caliper slider rubbers top and bottom and new white Teflon sleeves. Question is, do you guys lube the metal sliders that go into the white sleeves or leave them dry. ETKA doesn’t specify any lube on the diagram but was certainly easier to get the metal slider in there lubed. Can’t do any harm can it?

    But with proper caliper/rubber grease, not copper grease

    That’s great guys thanks. I’ve started using this Permatex stuff that’s supposed to be really good, so happy now that I’ve put that on.:thumbup:

    Yeah you're technically not meant to according to manufactures. But ATE/Teves/Lucas/Girling etc will tell you to use Silicone grease. I suspect it is something to do with pollution and that the restrictions on the likes of VW are far more stringent that what is placed on OEM's
