Browsing the forums on here i noticed someone a while back mentioned running their throttle bodied car on a peugeot or citroen ECU, seen as i have a peugeot this is interesting as i have never heard of it before, i know the Motronic 3.1 ecus can be remapped is it that? Anyone know of one that i can use to just run ignition for my carb setup?
if u convert a 16v to carbs u just run the standard system to run the ignition, so cna't see why you couldn't use the 8v kjet ignition system to run an 8v on carbs
Sam_rallye, you 've probably seen a car with throttle bodies and injectors a-la bager5 style. If you are using carbs, then the only electronic control you have is via the ignition timing which can be controlled with the standard KR ecu and tweaked with a k-star etc.
Sorry if i sounded unclear, I was kinda asking 2 different questions: - Firstly what ecu was used to run throttle bodies in the vw's i been hearing about running on a peugeot/citroen ecu. I assumed it was the Motronic 3.1 - And secondly what i could use for ignition only with my carbs on a 1600 8v TU peugeot engine but i'll probly stump for a proper emerald or dta full ecu so i can run tb's later. I know i can't run injection with carbs they are two totally different forms of induction/fuelling [although you can convert dcoe's into throttle bodies quite easily.... ] Thanks i knew about chipwizards doing the 3.1 and various other ecus but didn't know they had a site i'll take a look.
hi m8, it was me who was talking bout citroen/pug ecu-s for itb-s. I have one of citroen xantia now and yes you can use it to run both ignition and fueling on itb-s but you will need to get it maped by wayne(chipwizards), he will be doing mine soon. u need magneti marreli ecu and it needs to be the one with removable eprom( rubber plug from underside).
