I have a 2001 Audi a3 T Sport. I have asked this question on several Audi sites without response so assuming a MK4 Golf is similar can anyone tell me where the lateral acceleration sensor is located ? ESP light is on and fault code is 01423 G200, thanks.
This is located on the steering column and is one component responsible for the ESP feature. The code above is related to this controller , G200 - "Combi Sensor for acceleration and yaw".
It's not that common a problem but you do hear about them going You see a lot of second hand ones on eBay As they can be a bit pricey new
Located sensor 1j0907651a and sent it to Germany for repair as advertised on Ebay. ESP light still on and fault code 01423 G200 012 remains and will not clear. Repair company sent voltage figures for plug, should be 2.4/2.5 on pin 1 and 5v on pin 3. I have 6v & 6.3v. Had enough of this now I'm out of my depth, any electrical experts out there ?
Have you done the basic settings with vcds ? That would be the next thing I'd do if you haven't [Select] [03 - Brake Electronics] [Measuring Blocks - 08] Group 004 [Go!] Check field 2, the value has to be between -1.5 and +1.5 m/s. [Done, Go Back] [Coding-II - 11] Enter 40168, to enable the basic setting. [Do it!] [Basic Settings - 04] Group 063 [Go!] Activate the Basic Setting. [ON/OFF/Next] After a successful basic setting, field 2 should say "OK". [Done, Go Back] To make sure the basic setting was succesful, check the sensor again. [Measuring Blocks - 08] Group 004 [Go!] Check field 2, the value has to be between -1.5 and +1.5 m/s. [Done, Go Back] [Close Controller, Go Back - 06]
Thanks guys, is it possible that this procedure will change the high voltage inputs at the plug ? I dont have VAG com and this is getting expensive !
not sure if it would or not bud but would do no harm trying could be worth looking to see what else can bring up the fault have a good read on Google i find this can help with faults as sometimes it's not alway what you would think is wrong as i'v found out a few times sometime someone will of had the same problem and it's something simple that on one thought of you may be able to code it out so the light dose not come on as a temporary fix as you can code the esp out at the soft coding for the abs module it may even be the abs module thats at fault would be intresting if gary or eddie had come across anything like that i fell you pain i'v had problems like this in the past thats why i got vag-com when i got the 4motion saved me a few quid over the years and made me a few beers as well mine is just a 30 clone off ebay
The German repairers are very helpful. To eliminate the possibility of a failed repair they are sending another sensor. I'll be back if there's any progress
