   I've got a 1.8GL (carb then) and want to replace the exhaust manifold and downpipe with GTI items that I have. Question is, will the centre section fit the new downpipe or will the whole exhaust have to be replaced?

   1.8 front and rear silencers same as 8v gti so all bolt in fit. backbox differs but only in that gti is twin pipe and carb is single
