Anyone who saw Topgear the other night will have seen Clarkson extend the range of his remote by placing the transmitter against his head!!!

I can confirm this works!! I parked the Golf, walked about 40 yards or so until normal function was out of range. Walked across the road to my house (adding another 20 yards) and it still didn't work. Placed the key fob against my head and hey presto it worked.

Then went in the house and upstairs so I could see the car (adding at least another 10 yards) and once again placing it against my head it worked!!

Presumably this is due to the radio waves bouncing around in the skull getting amplified?

Wouldn't want to do it in daylight though.....

I guess the more space there is the better it will work. ;)

Yeah but why would you want to increase the range anyway? ;)

lol - just get one of those gsm modules and then you can text your car from the other side of the globe... now that's extending the range...

Yeh - the more hollow your head, the better it works...

worked on mine last nite! I think the battery in my remote is on the way out cos nothing happened but then I held it to my head & it worked.

must've looked pretty daft though stood in a pub car park with an alarm remote held against my head.

nope, i assume dealer fit. i think its a scorpion. does on VERY rare occations pick up from about 5 metres but 99 times out of a 100 im standing next to/behind the car waving my fuking arm about trying to get the bitch open. ssooooo annoying

eddited due to swear filter making it seem i "enter" canines in my spare time

If you have a short range on your remote, you can hold it next to your leg as you are walking towards the car and it has the same effect without you looking insane!

Only if you've got hollow legs though too? I've been accused of having those in the past, what with the amount of drink I can put away ;)
