The Manta was really successfull in Brit championship terms Gringo It took plenty 1st/2nd/3rd's along with a 1,2,3 finish, while still up against the 4wd quattro's!!! There was a program on the other night, top 10 world rally cars...Manta in at no.8. The commentator said it was unsucessfull on the international stage...Erm, well yes. Because it wasn't allowed to compete
Regardless of success i think they are so much nicer than the mk2 escort - sleeker and longer and the box arches make them look tough. Our local Reverend even drove one in GTE spec back in the day - graphite grey colour - always liked the look of them...
An A-series Manta I owned a few years ago, sold it to a Manta specialist as it was very gone as far as rust was concerned. Really really wish I'd stuck with it now as I miss it like hell and have got the time to sort it out now the kids are getting a bit older. It was an original one owner 1.9 SR with 105 bhp, great fun and looked great. Was searching for ages and it turned up 6 doors down from where I lived and I'd never known it was there. Ah well....
