i remeber a bit back talking with a mate who had fitted a VR6 and a 20v turbo into into VW passate's and he said there all the same plat form and its a matter of bolting them in, as all mounts, shafts, hubs etc all fit the same? any advice on the Mk1 golf is this the same? i have done 10000's of Vauxhall converstions so fancy somthing new. cheers
Not into a mk1. I dont think the mk1 mounts would bolt to the VR block. You would have to use late cabrio driveshafts and hubs. If i were as skilled as you i'd re-wire the car with late mk2 or mk3 electrics (and even fit a later dash), this will save you mating the VR loom to your mk1 wiring and efectively make the wiring side of it plug and play. But don't quote me on that. Its 100 times easier into a mk2 but looking at your corsa your not to bothered about 'easy' conversions. I'm sure Andy947 will be along in a second with some usefull advice Edited by: 1990
have a look on the designadubs forum.theres a good thread with info/pics on a mk1 caddy vr6. lots more involved than putting one in a mk2 Edited by: alby
There is plenty to keep you busy in this conversion <ul>[*]All mounts have to be fabbed & welded[*]Pedal assy require modifying for hydraulic clutch[*]Cable shift box has to be routed & mounted[*]Downpipe has to be fabricated[*]wiring & ECU will have to be spliced in your fusebox [*]You will need 100mm inner CV's to mate to the VR G/box (late cabrio or Scirocco 2 will donate)[*]You will need a corrado or passat radiator, preferably with fans[/list] Plus many more bits and peices need sorting to make it work If your realy going to do this and have the skills then drop us email
Matt from DesignaDubs had the 1st MK1 VR6 back in the day - featured in one of the mags. It later got a syncro system fabbed up for it. It hit the limiter in 5th
oooh who's got a picture of that Lupo with a VR6, I'd kill (well probably maim somebody) for one of them.
Oi Beardy Its Rexy... Get off the CGTI fourm and stick to Vauxhall's lol Hows it going fella? Still got the Big Phat Black corsa V6 thing?
