Aright guys, not quite sure which part of the forum to put this in so thought i would pop it in here. I found a Mk2 Jetta Syncro in my local scrappy last week, Its a left hooker but the Rear Diff ect is all there. Thought somebody might be interested in the parts as syncros are quite rare, especially jettas.
yes thats rare, never seen one. do synchros have diff floor plans than other mk2s transmission tunnel etc
Thought i had better add the scrappy is in Colchester. Its one of those where you take your tools and help yourself to the bits. The jetta is ontop of another car just now but they might lift it with fork lifts and let you take the bits?? Be warned though they sell bits on ebay so they kind of inflate their prices for the more popular stuff. My mate got a set of chrome surround air vents from a mk1golf and they wanted a tenner cause they thought they would get that on ebay!! my mate threw them back at him and said, there you go i have just saved you from removing them and walked away !!
i often do that at scrap yards me:20?! i can get it cheaper than that new!!! scrap man: go on then mek your loss?! just have to talk to the right people there[]
same floorpan ans the golf syncro, just with an extra bit at the back to make up the extra length. don't let it go to waste, you can't buy the rear crossmeber anymore. go get those parts and cut out the rear floorpan before it's scrapped.
As well as the rear crossmember being long obsolete, I think that the boot floor is long obsolete now, isn't it. It's a shame because you see some salvaged rear crossmembers that have been removed by chopping up the boot floor. It is a fair bit of work to take out the boot floor complete though. All that work and then I just bought a factory three-door one. Yes it's a crying shame for that Jetta Syncro to go to waste.
I thought the boot floor was obsolete, but according to Chris on the vwsyncro forum VW still have a few left in stock.
