I bought a new fuel pump for my 86 8v gti. Fitted it and now the fuel pump box that it goes in is leaking from where the two halves join together.

Its dealer obsolete and I can't find one anywhere.

what are my options???? presumably one of them is to fit a mk3 tank, lines and wiring and ditch this and the lift pump in favour of a single tank pump?

(I have an abf i'm breaking for spares!)

seat toledo 16v uses the same pump housing up to 96 you may be able to get a good second hand one
also both 16v and 8v k-jet mk2 use the same housing

the problem with them is the screws rust and split the plastic
i have a spare one but one of the brackets has split and i'm not sure you would get the screws out
so dout it would be any good to you

make sure you change the lift pump as well

mk3 tank is not going to work with k-jet

you could try vw classic parts in germany

the screws are fine with mine... no cracks there... its leaking from where both halves meet!

Would it not be possible to have it re-sealed?

toledo only uses digifant pump housing so no good for kjet, one possible solution is use a mk1 golf fuel pump with an external swirl pot, the mk3 golf has a handy fuel filter carrier that fits in the mk2 pump position which you could use as a base for making your custom setup

corrado 16v all run kjet so another source

edit: I take it back yes indeed the early toledo used the kr lump up to 1992! Must be rare as all hell though

if your dealer can be bothered might be worth asking him to check stock worldwide, its only been discontinued since august so im sure there must be some kicking about somewhere

yeah but it still fits fine, just slightly different due to the floorpan. uses the same pump and metal bracket as the mk2

Not repairable as the fuel gets into the plastic ,have tried every method, the lack of stock maybe indicates VW thought these would last for ever,go to a breaker and get one find a company that knows little about vw's and you will get in for a reasonable price then.
The 90 model passat 16v used this pump as well from memory.
