hey, i've got a 1992 gti mk3 2 litre 8 valve... well sometimes when i drive it i can't get into 2nd gear properly. It's like there's a brick wall there but i can get it after some heavy shifting. It's only 2nd gear that seems to do this. Any suggestions?
Have you changed the g/box oil recently. I did that and the shifts went crxp until I got a tip-off about using Redline mtl - now its gorgeous , but expensive (like a high class 'lady of the night')
I dont use redline MTL, I flush the box out with cheapass gear oil over a week of use then fill it with regular gear oil of good quality, it seems to work a treat and doesnt crunh into gear and feels slick as
Had this on my G40, part of my problem was a bent selector fork, they other part was I had destroyed first and second gear cogs Alan

do it myself??? i'm a proper noob when it comes to getting my hands dirty on my engine.... i'll just have to bring it to a mechanic coz i dont know how to do anything hahaha... all i just do is drive lol
