Hi Im trying to findout some info on a Gemini VWM 6 speed close ratio box I bought a few years ago. Ive found out teh box was made in Dec 95 for a Maxpower feature car. The car was a wide bodied Corrado called project "Mad Max". The original car had a TSR 2ltr 16v Snetterton engine and this Gemini box. I bought the box back in 2005 and its never been used until now. Im currently putting together a G60 MK1 Golf and intend to use the box but want to know what ratios its running , whether its had an LSD fitted etc Ive tried ringing TSR but they dont have records from the original TSR company and Gemioni were taken over in 2002 by Ricardo again no records and Maxpower magazine doesnt exist either so hoping someone on here maybe able to help ?????????????????

I also have a motorsport shifter that I need cables for , any ideas ?????

    cheers Si

It is very likely to be the helical gearkit. There are a couple of options on 5th & 6th, shunting 0.84 into fifth and a 0.7X 6th.

There is a also a 3-6 upgrade kit with standard first & second.

Post up a picture of the Gemini 6-speed end casing and I'll be able to tell which kit it has inside.

Being 15 years on from the car itself, the only way of knowing whether an LSD is fitted is if stripped apart. It may have Gemini output flanges - do not throw them away or allow them to get swapped!

RCS cables will sort your cable requirements, but you may have to supply lengths. I have some in my Mk1 made by them, so they may know the sizes already.

I wont be near the box for a couple of days to get a pic but it has the VW Motorpsort Logo cast into it.

I found the following markings on it :

    GEM MS 1295

    Maxpower

    WW0 02A 301

    2 AGC 10119

    1) GEM = Gemini?
    3) VW casting number I think
    4) Gearbox code being AGC, but with the internals now changed, meaningless

It's a pic of the end casing I'd need to see, end on, for a design feature.

Both Gemini 6 speed kits have an end cover with the VW motorsport logo

end cover with end caps that are kept in place by a circlip > helical
and a input shaft spline is about 22 mm ? diameter

on the grA dogbox it has treaded end caps and a locking screw / bridge between
    the end caps
input shaft spline is ca 25 mm diameter

if it has a Gemini LSD is must have steel output flanges > 100 or 108 mm
and kept in place by a bolt
