Going to have a go at servicing my Golf

    nice one - is fuel filter easy to do?

    Also, anyone know of a VW dealer near corsham open on a saturday to get parts? Lol. because i won't be able to get any VAG parts on a saturday will I?

    My local VW dealership parts dept is open all day on a Saturday btw so I assume they are all similar.

    aye its open till 7.30 mon fri too, so no problemo.

    So is the fuel filter easy

    Yup, take the old one off, fit the new one! Make sure the engine is off obviously, and be prepared for a little fuel spilage.

    Jaysus. bought it all from vw.

    Spark plugs were fiver each!!

    Oil, Oil filter, Air Filter, Spark plugs, Fuel Filter costme over 50 quid!!

    Should have gone to GSF most parts are the same and cheaper btw.

    OK last time I take advice from him :(

    Anyway, I did it all yesterday, trickiest bit was the spark plugs, getting the air box off with no help from haynes, wasn't that hard tho, but i didnt have a proper plug socket.Nevermind.

    I also did the fanbelt,piece of urine, its on a rack so just loosen a locknut then adjust it with the other :) there were teeth missing from the old belt!!!

    heh seriously though, how often is it reccomended i change all of that?

    I assume I just change the oil every 8k miles or so?

    You did. Mine were 13 for four (inc VAT) from VW.

    If you havent yet bought a haynes manual I have the electronic version you can download! Only broblem is its missing chapters 6,7 & 8.

    All the most important chapters are there though!
