will have to look into that lol i hope not but i did see one done that through up falt codes for just that plugs im gessing may be different as well as the sensors
aye the plugs and the sensors are different the mk4 i saw with the mk5 engine fitted he had the plugs mixed up ie inlet on the exhust and exhust on the inlet thats why it though the fault code
I hope its just the plugs. I've just swapped my plugs on the mk4 loom for the smaller mk5 plugs so the cam and hall senders now can all be plugged in, the other different sized ones is the coolant so I bought a mk4 sensor and the lambdas so i've bought some mk4 ones to save swapping the plugs on my mk5 ones. The pins in the plugs all go to the same pins on the ECU but Phatvr6 still thinks it will throw a cam error code due to the cam sprocket. Its a bit of a grey area because not many people have the mk5 engine with mk4 management. I'm going to get mine running as it is and hope for the best.
aye tell me about it i'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it works just hope paul's wrong i had hoped to have had mine done by now but other things got in the way it dont help i use it as a daily i dont think using the mk5 ecu and loom are a option for me anyway could never find the second half of the loom and i never did get a ecu i have all the other bits mine you
Hi mate, I'm putting a mk5 bub engine in my mk3 vr, I was hoping to use a late mk4 4motion ecu, looms etc have you had any running problems with the 4motion parts? Cheers
mine's is running on the early 4motion with single coil pack it runs but dose have a flat spot from 2000 to 3500revs i would say you will have the same even with the late mk4 4motion ecu it's going to need flashed with a r32 map may end up just as cheap getting the r32 ecu un less you can get someone to do that at the same time as the immobilizer defeat i'm not sure it's going to be 100% with the mk4 r32 ecu it may still throw some codes but i can live with that if it runs ok
Yes I have found a place to do the defeat on the ecu and flash the software, didn't realise you could use an early ecu swell. I think your inbox is full do you mind if I pm you just after a bit more info on a few things regarding the swap. Cheers
it's only the later me7.1.1 that can be flashed with the r32 software as fare as i'v been told the early 4motion ecu is only me7.1
fitted and the clocks and coded the keys today picture of the first start they have miles to empty already just need to a few more bells and wistles so copyed the eprom file to edit started the rear arms a while back need to get some flat plate to finish them lit needles I got round to finishing the rear arms last week due to lack of material i used parts of the standard arms and beefed them up this is the result http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg314/justinc_2008/IMG_20130726_022408_zps8aa5d704.jpg[IMG] [IMG]http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg314/justinc_2008/IMG_20130726_163206_zps2ad7e0b9.jpg
got some full fis tdi clocks this week now the plan was to strip the r32 clocks i had and cut the foils for the bigger screen then find a eeprom file from a full fis r32 clock so managed to find one online the first one would not code the keys but the second worked edited the file to get the welcome screen plus miles to empty and lit needles have had it out for a spin to test it and it seems ok so far
made some new mirrors both are polo ones fitted to golf bases the drivers side is the same size as the r32 and the passenger side one is a small stubby got some bora vents and made two sets into one good set also got a mfd radio sat nav the buttons had seen better days so got new ones on ebay still looking for a map cd for it may get a loom to link it to the clocks need to get a antenna as well but need to get my paypal back on line the new mirror fitted
Great Thread Mushy. I've done a similar conversion. Mk5 BUB engine into a 2004 4motion silver too Im hoping you might be able to help me. Mine is running the later ME7.1.1 ecu and the car runs great but I get an error code, cam correlation error on cam 2. Any ideas on how i can get around this ?
I take it you have a mk4 r32 ECU ? I think I'm going to run into the same problem when I fit the new ECU to mine
fitted new caps i swapped with r32wolfe plus had to get a new battery last week not sure if the old one is dud or not but got a better one and it starts a lot better the old one faild to start a few mornings needs a new ARB
