golf mk1 cabrio headlights not working

    Hello everyone,I am looking for help With my mk1 golf cabrio, the problem I have is when I turn the ignition on the headlights work no problem but when I start the engine both headlight stop working and I only have side lights,any help would be appreciated,thank you

    do the wipers and blower motor work ok?

    Wipers do not work and heater does not either if it does then if isn’t very strong?

    ok suggests ignition switch issue as they're all common x-relief circuits. check the black/yellow wires out of pin X on the ignition switch, this should be live ignition on but go dead while cranking. the thicker wire goes straight to the headlight switch, the thinner wire goes off to the fusebox and triggers the x-relief relay which then powers the wiper,s blowers, rear screen heater and some other circuits.
