hi guys, my vr6 was running fine before the starter motor got stuck, so i hit the starter motor with a hammer and it started. but since it started the oil light flashes when engine is at idle and rev counter does not work? is the oil pressure switch the tiny sensor on the oil filter housing, ive replaced the two big ones as they were leaking a year ago and speed sensor has been changed.
maybe clocks need resetting, pull the dash fuse for 30 seconds, its #21 iirc basically if the digital displays go out its the right fuse
still no joy checked all fuses and there all ok! pulled out 21 and oil light still flashing and a dead rev counter?
On the VR6 cluster, the oil light will flash when the rev counter does not work. Investigate the cause of the duff tach and the oil light should go out once engine speed is measured.
check all the earths on the engine block, one of them is an earth for the cluster but I'm not sure on the vr6 where it actually is. look for any brown and rown/white wires that run to a ring terminal
it started flashing after i smashed the starter motor with a hammer to free it up. looked around that area and cant see nothing wrong as such. electrics are my weak point! ahhh ohhhh!!
Sorry to jump on your thread paceo but i to have a flashing oil light and dead rev counter, so what does the rev counter recieve its signal from? this is bugging me driving round with the oil light blinking away ,only happened since fitting a 1.8t engine and im totally stuck on this.
Any luck with yours paceo,i think mine would work, as when i put the ignition on the tacho needle moves up to 0,so i think i need to look at signal to it. @ rubjonny, mine was an abf before so already have 4pot clocks,if the signal cames from the original ecu,how will i get the tacho to work with the agu ecu?
Do the Vr's fire on the cam sensor?? If so then you might have caught the engine speed sensor wiring which runs along side of starter motor to multiplug on front engine mount..
