Had a thread up a few months ago asking for recommendations for a sub 20 multimeters
Sadly it disappeared when the forum got taken down.

My required spec was something without a hundred options & more geared to automotive use rather than a physics lab.
Some great suggestions came forward + a really poor suggestion too.

So as an update I got this a few weeks ago:

    CDM85 Digital Clamp Multimeter

    Non contact readings via clamp
    Audible continuity
    Data hold function
    Safe one-handed current measurement
    LCD display with backlight
Overload protection. Pair of test leads, 3 x 3V batteries and full instructions

Really pleased with it, covers all my needs with only got 9 functions keeps it nice & simple, the build is really good, the test leads are a great length with dust cover plugs for the test lead connection on the body & covers for the contact tips too. Audible beep is good and loud & the sleep function saves the battery.

I was lucky to manage to find mine for 8 on ebay, but the average going rate for these is 15 - must say I would have been very happy with it at that price too.

Got made redundant a few years back, and when we cleared out the workshop/showroom, I found two fluke meters in one of the benches. And very useful they have been too ;)
